Southern Violin Association, non-profit, violin makers in Southern USS.

PURPOSE:

To create a forum for sharing knowledge in the art of violin-making (and related instruments) among makers and other interested parties in the Southeast US.

To promote interest in the playing of these instruments among the youth of this region, whether it is fiddle style or classical.

To help prepare makers in the region for competitions at national and international levels

 

SCOPE:

Anyone may become a member

Competitions – To be held in the Southeast during odd-numbered years beginning 2013, so as not to coincide with the bi-annual competitions held by the Violin Society of America. 

Annual Meetings –

  • Business meeting

  • Election of Officers

  • Show and Tell

  • Presentations

  • Seminars

  • Website – Offering list of makers and services in the region, and their contact information. This may be expanded to include a blog for members. 

 

ORGANIZATION:

  • SVA IS RECOGNIZED BY INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE AS A NOT FOR PROFIT ENTITY.

  • Members have elected a Board of Directors  at their First organizational meeting May 19, 2012 in Duluth, GA.

  • Directors serve 4 year terms, elections held on even numbered years, with overlapping terms.
